Recognizing that many students at Wharton | San Francisco have started or want to start their own businesses, Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs offers the Entrepreneur in Residence Program (EIR) to complement the classroom learning experience.
EIR provides an opportunity for students to meet one on one with a successful entrepreneur to discuss his or her aspirations as an entrepreneur.
A different highly accomplished entrepreneur comes to campus every several weeks; the visiting entrepreneurs come from diverse fields and are chosen based on their success starting and managing successful enterprises.
Advance on-line registration is required. A lottery system has been implemented. Registration is open to the students who have won the lottery. The winning students must sign up in advance via the EIR website for a 30-minute appointment with the EIR.
Students are expected to come prepared with questions, based on their ideas, opinions, and strategies for potential or actual business ventures. Students are encouraged to choose to meet with entrepreneurs who are active in fields that capture the student's interest.
Following the one-on-one sessions, most EIRs present their thoughts on a topic relevant to entrepreneurship to a group of up 40 participants from the Wharton | San Francisco community. These sessions are kept intentionally small to encourage an active dialog between the EIR and the attendees.
